Case At concrete product manufacturer IBF, the strategy is clear. The company aims to reduce its CO₂ emissions by 70% by the end of 2030. As part of this strategy, IBF has received 12 Linde X50 electric trucks from N.C. Nielsen, contributing to emission-free, quiet, and eco-friendly internal transport. The Linde trucks are one of many sustainability initiatives underway.

IBF is a key player in the construction industry, operating 52 production sites in Denmark and abroad. Every year, over 2.3 million tons of concrete are produced and transported to construction projects across the country using a fleet of more than 200 trucks and concrete mixers. IBF also operates a large fleet of machines internally to move concrete products from production lines to storage and from storage to waiting trucks.

“Sustainability is a central part of our business strategy. We’ve launched numerous initiatives that are moving us in a more sustainable direction. In the future, we expect sustainability to become an even more integral part of our business and help us meet our ambitious goal of reducing CO₂ emissions,” says Production Manager Mogens Rosenkilde from IBF.

Rosenkilde cites examples such as green energy from solar panels on factory roofs, research into cement-free concrete, recycling crushed concrete in new products, and electrification of the fleet. IBF is transitioning its company cars to electric, has acquired its first four electric concrete mixers, and has installed a public charging station for electric trucks in Ejby, Funen.

A Demanding Operating Environment

The 12 new Linde X50 electric trucks are replacing a number of worn-out diesel trucks at IBF’s production facilities nationwide. The trucks operate in tough conditions at large production sites where a steady flow of pallets with concrete products or massive concrete pipes rolls off the production lines. The Linde electric trucks then transport them for outdoor curing before they are shipped to customers.

The Linde trucks, which operate from morning to evening, drive on a variety of surfaces at IBF’s facilities. To handle the demanding environment, the Linde X50 electric trucks have been fitted with extras such as twin front wheels for increased stability, mudguards, an integrated fork positioner with side shift, and a reversible driver's seat with a suspension system to absorb shocks and vibrations during operation.

The Linde X50 electric trucks come equipped with N.C. Nielsen’s proprietary Lithium-ION batteries, ensuring quiet, comfortable, and efficient all-day operation. These batteries deliver the power, stamina, and energy needed to handle the heavy transport tasks associated with IBF’s concrete products. At the same time, they contribute to a more comfortable working environment for the operators who spend their entire workday in the trucks:

“We focus strongly on our employees and want to provide the best possible conditions for their work. They are very satisfied with the new Linde X50 electric trucks, which offer significantly enhanced driver’s comfort. At the same time, the cabin noise levels have been noticeably reduced, making for a more pleasant working day,” concludes Mogens Rosenkilde from IBF.
