Swedish Konecranes was established in 1947 as SMV (Silverdalens Makaniska Verkstad). The first SMV forklift was launched in 1959. In the mid-90s, new generations of container trucks and reach stackers and others were introduced with a focus on high quality, sturdiness and reliability. This was also the starting signal for the company's leading position in machines for container handling and other heavy-duty handling.

Today, Konecranes is part of the Finnish owned Konecranes group with approx. 12,000 employees worldwide. The company has production facilities in Markaryd in Småland (Sweden) and in China.

N.C. Nielsen has imported and sold Konecranes container trucks and reach stackers since 2009.
