N.C. Nielsen’s privacy policy

In this personal data statement, we explain how we collect and use your personal data. This personal data statement applies to all the personal data that we process about you when you buy our products or use our services, visit our websites or interact with us in other ways.

We have organised this personal data statement into different sections.

1. Who we are

We are N.C. Nielsen A/S, and our registered office is located at Nørregade 66, 7860 Spøttrup, Denmark. N.C. Nielsen A/S is responsible for the collection and use of your personal data as described in this personal data statement.

2. THE TYPES OF PERSONAL DATA THAT WE COLLECT

A. General

 

Name, titel and sex
Your contact details as well as your company name, place of business, including address, phone number, CVR (company registration) no. and email address.
Information concerning your enquiries and purchases
Our communication with you (when you call or write to us, we may register the communication in our systems)
Informations from your visits to our website, apps, and other digital media (IP address, browser type, operating system, referring website and browsing behaviour)
Information from newsletters (automated messages when you open a newsletter or click a link in a newsletter)

Apart from the data specified in points 2.a., 2.c., and 2.d., we collect the data you submit in connection with the application

C. Cookies and similar technologies

When you use our websites, we collect information using cookies.

At N.C. Nielsen A/S, we are aware of the importance of safeguarding your sensitive data. We therefore assume responsibility for compliance with the legal requirements in this area.
“Cookies” are text files that are saved on your computer, cell phone or similar device, with the aim of recognising it, remembering your settings, for statistical purposes and for targeting ads. Cookies cannot contain harmful code such as viruses. On our websites, we store and use cookies in order to provide you with a better user experience.

General
We use automated tools to carry out statistical surveys of general trends concerning the use of our services, websites and social media, as well as the behaviour and preferences of our customers and users.
Data
For carrying out our surveys, we may combine and analyse the different types of data as described above. We only use aggregate data, and we do not use names, email addresses or other directly-identifiable information. We may also combine this aggregate data with information we receive from our authorised dealers or from public sources. We will not use sensitive data for such statistical surveys without consent.
Benefits
Statistical surveys help us develop better services and offers for you as our customer. This helps us to provide better customer support and to improve the design and content of our websites.

C. For direct marketing purposes

General
We may use your personal data to send you newsletters, brochures, advertising campaigns or other marketing material.
Data categories
In order to understand what is relevant to you, we may use automatic tools to analyse your personal data. For this purpose, we may use and combine information as described above. We may also combine this aggregate data with information that we receive from our group companies or from public sources. We will not use sensitive data for this statistical survey without your consent.
Benefits
We use the results from our analyses to tailor our marketing communication to your specific interests and preferences. If, for example, our analyses show that you may be interested in certain types of machines or in a specific service, we can customise our newsletter and websites with offers and content that we believe is relevant for you.
Channels
We may use different channels for our marketing communication, such as email and social media
Custom audience search
We may participate in Facebook's Custom Audience, which allows us to show you individualised ads when you visit Facebook. We may share your email address or other kind of identification with Facebook to let Facebook determine if you have a Facebook account. We may use similar programmes on other social media networks. You can opt out from participating in the Facebook Custom Audience programme (or similar programmes) by sending an email togdpr@nc-nielsen.dk from the email addresses that you are opting out from. Right to object or withdrawal of consent
You can always object to or withdraw your consent from receiving marketing communication by following the instructions in the respective marketing communication or by contacting us at gdpr@nc-nielsen.dk.

4. DATA TRANSFER OR SHARING WITH THIRD PARTIES

A. For the support services we include

We use third parties to deliver our services, e.g. IT suppliers, social media network providers, marketing agencies and providers of anti-fraud screening services. According to applicable regulations, any such third party must ensure the protection of your personal data, and the data may only be processed in accordance with our instructions.

B. To third-party websites

Our websites contain links to websites belonging to third parties. If you follow these links, you will leave our websites or mobile apps. This personal data statement does not apply to websites belonging to third parties. N.C. Nielsen A/S does not assume responsibility for the use of your personal data by third parties. Your use of these websites is at your own risk. For further information on how such third parties process your personal data, please see their personal data statement.

5. SECURITY AND RETENTION

A. Precautions

N.C. Nielsen A/S will take the appropriate technical and organisational precautions to protect your personal data against loss and illegal use.

B. Period

Your personal data will be saved as long as required for the purpose described in this personal data statement or as long as necessary to fulfil statutory requirements and to resolve any disputes. However, your data will be deleted 5 years after your customer relationship with N.C. Nielsen has ceased.

C. Job applicants

For job applicants, the data will be saved for 6 months from the application date. It will then be automatically deleted from our data registers.

6. YOUR RIGHTS

A. Data update

You may request for your personal data to be updated, rectified or erased. In addition, you can exercise any other right that you may have pursuant to the applicable data protection legislation, including for example, objection to the processing of your personal data. All you have to do is send your written response with a copy of your identification to gdpr@nc-nielsen.dk

B. Marketing communication

You can always say no to receiving marketing communication by following the instructions in the respective marketing communication or by contacting us atgdpr@nc-nielsen.dk.

C. Specific transactions

You must be aware that even if your profile has been deleted, we may retain your data on specific transactions for accounting purposes or in order to process your specific transaction.

7. UPDATING THIS POLICY

This data protection policy shall be valid from 25 May 2018 and replaces our previous data protection policy. We will keep this personal data statement updated and will inform you of any changes by posting this personal data statement on our website. The personal data statement will come into effect as soon as it is posted on the site.
