For many years, N.C. Nielsen has developed strong skills in the Heavy handling sector. Based on the motto that “nothing is impossible in advance”, the team has solved a wide range of challenges when it comes to the internal transport of very heavy goods. The team is faced with complex technical challenges that are solved in close collaboration with the client and N.C. Nielsen’s own experts.

The Heavy Duty sector is currently undergoing rapid expansion. The goods to be transported are getting heavier, wider and longer – and more difficult to handle when they need to be transported around companies and on public roads. This places extreme demands on e.g. Lifting capacity, lifting gear design, trailer mobility or the optional equipment that must fit the transport vehicles exactly.

Only one contact person

The core of N.C. Nielsen’s Heavy handling team consists of a number of experienced specialists; product managers, consultants and back office employees based in Balling. The client has one and only one contact person at N.C. Nielsen, who brings the relevant specialists into the project process:

“As a full-line supplier, it is essential that our clients have one contact person who acts as their project manager in the process. The contact person sets the team, which may, for example, consist of a salesperson, a machine designer and a workshop manager. It’s an exciting and innovative process where together we find a solution proposal that is presented to the client and modelled towards the final solution,” says Sales Manager Jørgen Peter Lund from N.C. Nielsen.

The majority of Heavy Duty solutions are based on the world famous machinery brands of Terberg terminal tractors and Konecranes reach stackers and forklifts. At the same time, N.C. Nielsen supplies a wide range of optional equipment to supplement their machines and many types of attachment that can handle virtually any size of goods.

New production workshop

N.C. Nielsen has just put the finishing touches to its new workshop building in Balling, comprising approx. 4,000 square metres all under cover. There is space to develop even more Heavy handling solutions with a newly furnished workshop, three large paint booths, sand blasting, washing hall with high pressure jet cleaning from the walls (and environmentally friendly cleaning agents) and, last but not least, three large overhead cranes that can synchronously handle heavy machine parts.

“We are really looking forward to using the new facilities. It’s fantastic to have the opportunity to follow the building of each machine – and to be able to involve the client during the process. We are literally equipping ourselves for the future and look forward to developing even more custom Heavy handling solutions here in the new premises,” says Sales Manager Jørgen Peter Lund from N.C. Nielsen.
